Temporomandibular Jaw Disorders (TMD)

The joints where your jaws and skull contact are called temporomandibular joints. You can open and close your mouth, eat, speak, and swallow thanks to your jaw joints and the muscles on each side of your jaw. These two joints may move in a variety of ways and are among the most complex in the body. They work in perfect harmony with your jaw's cartilage, muscles, ligaments, and bones. A collection of illnesses known as temporomandibular dysfunction, or TMD, cause discomfort in the jaw joint that permits you to open and shut your mouth. The sickness is almost twice as common in women as in men.

The severity of the issue determines how TMJD is treated or managed. Despite the symptoms of TMJ disorder, many individuals can go on with their regular activities without any issues. It could go away on its own at times, or it might become worse. For further details or clarification on TMD/TMJ, see our Brampton dentist.
